48hr Fast begins now

This evening, I will begin a 48hr fast and collect as much data as possible during the fasting period.





Last meal: 9:00pm 11/24

Next meal: 9:00pm 11/26



Data collection:

  1. Body weight (2x, am/pm)

  2. All intake: liquids/electrolytes (all day)

  3. All Activity: work, exercise, etc (all day)

  4. Notes on physical/emotional state and overall well-being (all day)




11.24 PM starting weight 172.2lbs



DAY 1

6:00am start


11/25 AM

  1. 169.2lbs body weight

  2. Intake:

    1. 64oz of water

    2. no coffee

    3. sodium intake only. 1/4 teaspoon at 4pm

  3. Activity:

    1. no strength work

    2. daily routines

    3. no stretching

  4. Overall notes

    3:10pm. Completed 3.5hrs of on-court coaching.  Just enough time to take a break, get some admin done and then start another 2.5hrs of on-court coaching. About halfway through the 64oz water bottle right now.



11/25 PM

  1. 171.6 lbs body weight

  2. Intake:

    1. 20oz of water

    2. no coffee

    3. sodium intake only. 1/4 teaspoon at 9pm

  3. Activity:

    1. no strength work

    2. 11,706 steps for the day

    3. no stretching

  4. Overall notes:

    9pm. Extremely sleepy. Body is likely going through some hunger withdrawls and energy level was dropping fast and turning into drowsiness. Total time awake ~ 16hrs.



DAY 2

5:30am start


11/26 AM

  1. 168.2 lbs of body weight

  2. Intake:

    1. 7-9am - 20oz black coffee with stevia (one serving coffee, extra hot water)

    2. 11am - 20oz electrolytes (Ath lytes)

  3. Activity:

    1. no strength work

    2. daily routines

    3. no strethcing

  4. Morning notes:

    7:15am. Slept well, but light. Did not feel groggy or heavy. Slight headache but likely from some dehydration. Will be sure to get in plenty of electrolytes today.



11/26 PM - end of fast

  1. 167.6 lbs of body weight

  2. Intake:

    1. 95 total oz (water, coffee, electrolytes)

  3. Activity:

    1. no strength work

    2. 11,192 total steps (3.5 hrs of coaching)

    3. no stretching

  4. Overall notes:

    4:30pm Feeling really good with energy, enthusiasm, joy and excitement. 

    Looking forward at the end of the fast:

    1. Eat my wife's cooking tonight. 

    2. Complete the fast itself. 

    3. Complete the goal I set for myself. 

    4. It brings confidence and desire to continue doing better with my nutritional intake.
